I am ready for the layout: exciting updates on "Helping Grandad Remember"

This has been a long journey for me. From the first conversation with my daughter about her experience on the Dementia ward at a local hospital when on placement from UNI, to speaking to support providers as a Rotarian, I have felt that I needed to do something to support people dealing with this horrible disease. 

Writing the story was a pleasure, whilst it took some amendments until I was happy with it, it took less time then I expected.  Learning to draw out the graphics has taken much longer.  But very worth it when I see how far this book has come and it has been my own work and vision.

The story has been proofread, most of the graphics are finished - so it is now time for the final layout to be done.  Very excited to see this come together after so long working on the book.  The frustrations of not being skilled at digital drawing (or any drawing for that matter) was a major hurdle, but I am so pleased that I kept going and it has been worth every bit of the work I have put in. 

I am not sure if all authors have the same worry, that their book will not be good enough, or hits the right level for the intended audience, but I have been through every emotion and still going through them!

I think it has been mostly due to my need for this book to help young people, rather than just a story. Most stories have a lesson in them, but this book is not just about reassuring children their feelings are valid, regardless of what they are, but giving them a positive and practical way of connecting with their loved one suffering from Dementia. 

Now to decide if I self publish or not.........
