Another week closer to publishing!
Another busy week. As I work full time, I have limited time to work on my book and related marketing. But I have to find the time or what is the point?
I am hoping to have a 'Feature' story in our local newspaper in the very near future, which seems so strange to me as I do anything to stay in the background, but needs must.
It then dawned on me, how will people be able to get my book (other than order online)? My whole ethos for this book is to make it as accessible as possible to everyone who is interested. I will be putting my book 'Helping Grandad Remember' on Amazon and IngramSpark, but I really want to be able to meet people who are living with Dementia within their family or friends. In an ideal world, local support groups would be able to offer my book to people they support, and charge a little extra so they have additional funds.
So this week has been 'research' week. Looking at local independent bookshops, Dementia and Alzheimers charity shops, and other possible places that might be interested in hosting a book signing, so local people can come along and, hopefully, buy a book - at a reduced price.
What a rabbit hole it has been! I have managed to narrow down possibilities, now the hard bit - contacting them and asking them to support me. As I said last week, I feel so exposed and vulnerable putting my book and myself forward. So next week's task is to finalise the layout, have it ready to give to my ARC helpers and then speak to the shortlist. Wish me luck!
Bookshop signing
I hope to arrange a book signing at a local independent Bookshop.
Dementia Charity Shop
Maybe I can set up a table at a local charity for Dementia/Alzheimers.
Newspaper Feature
Then, hopefully, a chat for the local newspaper!
