Weekly journal: 12.08.26
Welcome to my weekly journal where I share personal reflections and experiences. I hope that by sharing a bit more about myself, we can connect on a deeper level. Thank you for being a part of my journey.

Busy couple of weeks!
The last couple of weeks have been all about getting the layout of my 'Helping Grandad Remember' book agreed. Luckily for me, my daughter's degree in this area has been amazing, and she is very talented. Added to that, she is able to take my rather vague idea of what I want and make it into a fabulous layout. I am so grateful. My 'Word' document layout, now looks like a proper book......

So now the layout is agreed, Emma is working her way through the pages and we hope to have it done by the end of next week.
As this book is aimed at young people (5-8 year olds ish), I was unsure of how to get feedback from the right age group, without causing them additional upset. I have two wonderful young ladies who have kindly agreed to test it out for me. I want them to see the finished book, rather than my disjointed layout, so I am waiting until Emma has done her magic and I can offer them digital copies to go through, before I go ahead with the printed copied.
I have left Emma to it and now looking at promoting the book. I did not realise how much time this would take up, given that I do a bit of marketing for my 'day job'. However, B2B is completely different to promoting a book. It feels kind of strange as it is my own work and not just a product I have bought in to sell on. I feel vulnerable and, not stressed, but maybe anxious that I won't be able to get the book in front of people. Instagram, or rather Bookstagram, is terrifying. I am a private person and enjoy being a wallflower, this book promoting is putting me front and centre, which is completely out of my comfort zone, more like a galaxy away from who I normally am. I can see so many experienced people posting their amazing books and ideas, I feel completed at a loss of what I should be posting. I sit here thinking 'why would anyone want to know about me?', I will get to grips with it, if I can learn to create graphic images for my book from a standing start, I can do this.... That said, I want this book to help people, so I will get a grip and do what I can to promote it - no matter how hard that is.
Hopefully next week, I will have achieved something more worthy of writing about. I do need to clear my desk and get some structure between my day job and writing, it might help me switch from one to the other better and more effectively. We will see.
Until next week, stay safe and happy reading.
